NIAF Announces ITA Airways Partnership and Emilia-Romagna Flood Relief Update

The National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) has made two significant announcements. First, ITA Airways and the NIAF have signed an important agreement to ensure air connectivity with preferred fares to the Italian American community members. Second, the NIAF has raised $75,000 has been raised to aid the people affected by historic flooding in Emilia Romagna.

Italian Relief Fund Launched in May 2023

NIAF presented two separate checks to the Protezione Civile of Emilia-Romagna, the official civil protection agency responsible for coordinating emergency response and recovery efforts and to Coldiretti, Italy’s largest national agricultural association.

The first check for $25,000.00 was presented on June 13, during the NIAF Board of Directors Mission in Italy, where they travelled to Emilia-Romagna, NIAF’s 2023 Region of Honor and met with the President of the Region, Stefano Bonaccini.

The second contribution was acknowledged on Saturday, June 24, at the Italian Trade Agency event in New York City celebrating the candidacy of Italian Cuisine as an intangible world heritage of UNESCO

NIAF Partners with ITA Airways

ITA Airways and the National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) have signed an important agreement to ensure air connectivity with preferred fares to the Italian American community members. The United States represents ITA Airways’ number one international market and destination, the most strategic one after Italy, as well as the country with the largest number of Italian origins citizens. Therefore, direct flights from North America to Italy are not only means for leisure and business travel but also “bridges” connecting the broader Italian community in the U.S.

Summer Travel to Italy Savings

Additionally, is providing to NIAF members traveling between the United States and Italy an ongoing dedicated discounted offer and several flash discount promotions within the agreement term.

The first flash promotion exclusively dedicated to NIAF members, and their companions consists in a 20% discount on business class fares (excluding surcharges and taxes) on selected routes, including New York – Rome, New York – Milan, as well as Boston – Rome direct flights. The selling period will last until July 07, 2023 and travel period will end on August 31, 2023.

NIAF members and their companions will also benefit of an ongoing 10% reduction on fares (excluding surcharges and taxes) for all routes within ITA Airways’ network connecting the United States and Italy, as well as the entire Italian domestic network (excluding Sardinia). This special discount (non-cumulable with flash promo) is available for travel until December 31, 2023, and applicable to all cabins: economy, superior, and business.

The new direct flight between the Italian and U.S. capital operating five weekly roundtrip flights that will become daily from August 1 to cover the high season demand, integrates the ITA Airways services already operating between Rome Fiumicino and New York (JFK), Boston, Miami, Los Angeles and, as of July 1st 2023 between Rome and San Francisco and from Milano Malpensa and New York (JFK).”
