Shoulder Season Soirées and More!

The Amalfi Coast, known for its breathtaking beauty, becomes even more enchanting in September. As the summer rush fades, and families return to their routines, the region enters what’s known as shoulder season—a perfect time for adults to explore. This September, there’s an added reason to visit: the inaugural Amalfi Coast Cocktail Week. From September 23 to 29, this unique event will celebrate the art of mixology in one of the most stunning settings in the world.

Why September is the Perfect Time to Visit the Amalfi Coast

Visiting the Amalfi Coast in September offers a more peaceful experience. The crowds thin out, the weather cools slightly, and the charm of the coast remains in full bloom. With children back in school, the atmosphere becomes more relaxed, making it an ideal time for adults seeking a tranquil getaway. The days are warm, the evenings are breezy, and the sunsets are spectacular.

During this period, you can enjoy leisurely strolls along the coast, dine in less crowded restaurants, and take in the natural beauty without the hustle of peak tourist season. It’s a time when the locals reclaim their towns, and visitors can immerse themselves in authentic Italian life. Whether you’re exploring the picturesque streets of Positano, taking a boat ride along the coast, or simply relaxing on a quiet beach, September offers a more intimate experience of the Amalfi Coast.

A Week-Long Celebration of Cocktails and Culture

This September, the Amalfi Coast will host Amalfi Coast Cocktail Week, a week-long event dedicated to celebrating the region’s rich cocktail culture. The event, organized by Paola Mencarelli, founder of Italian Cocktail Weeks, will bring together some of the best mixologists from across Campania. For the first time, this event will take place by the sea, with activities spread across eight towns: Vietri sul Mare, Cetara, Maiori, Minori, Ravello, Amalfi, Praiano, and Positano.

Paola Mencarelli, who has previously organized successful cocktail weeks in Florence, Venice, and Cortina, saw the Amalfi Coast as the perfect next location.

To understand the feasibility of the project, I decided to explore the area,” Mencarelli explains. “After spending part of 2023 carrying out inspections, research, and scouting in the large hotels and best cocktail bars on the Amalfi Coast, I understood that my format was also replicable in this coveted destination.

Signature Cocktails and Local Ingredients

During the event, each participating bar will offer a special Amalfi Coast Cocktail Week drink list. These menus will feature three main types of cocktails, each with a distinct theme.

  1. Signature Cocktails: These drinks showcase the creativity of each bar. Mixologists will craft unique recipes, often using local ingredients to create flavors that capture the essence of the Amalfi Coast. Expect to see innovative combinations and presentations that reflect the artistry of the region’s best bartenders.
  2. RiEsco a Bere Italiano Cocktails: This category focuses on Italian-made products. Bars will highlight the best of Italy’s spirits, liqueurs, and wines, offering drinks that are 100% Italian. These cocktails not only celebrate the country’s rich heritage in alcohol production but also support local producers and brands.
  3. Cocktail Campania Felix: These cocktails are all about local ingredients. The name “Campania Felix” refers to the fertile land of the Campania region, known for its abundance of fresh produce. Expect to find drinks featuring ingredients like lemons from Sorrento, herbs from the coastal hills, and fruits from local orchards. These cocktails are a true taste of the region, capturing the flavors of the Amalfi Coast in every sip.

Amalfi Coast Cocktail Week isn’t just about the drinks; it’s about the experiences that come with them. The event kicks off on September 22 with an exclusive opening party at the Giardini del Fuenti in Vietri sul Mare. This party will set the tone for the week. It will feature top cocktail bars, live music, and gourmet food from across Campania. It’s the perfect way to start a week of celebration.
