A Perennial Gift: The Story Behind Dalia

Dalia, inspired by the perennial blooms that grace vineyards from mid-summer into autumn, symbolizes grace, strength through change, and new beginnings. Much like these vibrant flowers, Dalia Pinot Grigio is crafted to complement life’s special moments, big or small.

Lia Tolaini Banville

Lia Tolaini Banville, founder of Dalia Pinot Grigio and Dalia wines

Lia Tolaini Banville, the visionary behind Dalia Wines, has been a prominent figure in the North American wine industry for over 20 years. She began her journey in 1997 with a retail wine store in Winnipeg and later founded Banville Wine Merchants in 2004, a national wine importing company. Lia’s passion for winemaking is evident in every bottle of Dalia Pinot Grigio, reflecting her dedication to quality and authenticity.

From Vineyard to Table

Dalia Pinot Grigio hails from the picturesque Veneto region in Northern Italy, where the Dolomite mountains create an ideal environment for Pinot Grigio to thrive. The grapes are sourced from vineyards scattered over the foothills and hilly areas of the upper Val d’Alpone, benefiting from diverse soil types, including volcanic, alluvial, morainic, clayey, and calcareous soils.

The grapes are hand-harvested in late August when they are perfectly ripe. After gentle pressing, a slow fermentation process preserves their delicate aromas and flavors. The wine is aged in 100% stainless steel, maintaining its fresh and vibrant character.

Tasting Notes and Pairings

Dalia Pinot Grigio captivates with its pale yellow color and golden reflections. The aromatic bouquet is a delightful blend of ripe peach, apple, and fresh floral notes, complemented by a hint of flint stone. On the palate, Dalia is rich, mineral, and fresh, making it a truly refreshing wine for any occasion.
