Italian Design Day: Celebrating Sustainability and Innovation at Salone del Mobile.Milano 2024

Italian Design Day is a global celebration showcasing the excellence of Italian design and craftsmanship. The event, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, highlights Italy’s rich heritage of design innovation. This year, the theme of Manufacturing Value – Inclusiveness, Innovation, and Sustainability resonates strongly with the ethos of the 62nd edition of the Salone del Mobile in Milan.

Promoting Italian Design Worldwide

Italian Design Day, established in 2017, has grown to span over 100 countries, championing Italian creativity and ingenuity. Through exhibitions, meetings, and presentations, the event fosters collaboration and exchange within the international design community.

Sustainability as a Driving Force

The Salone del Mobile.Milano is at the forefront of promoting sustainability in design. Initiatives such as membership in the United Nations Global Compact, adherence to Sustainability Policy, and ISO 20121 certification underscore the commitment to environmental responsibility.

Inclusive Design for All

The Milan event aims to create an inclusive and efficient visitor experience. Leveraging neuroscience and Artificial Intelligence, the fair adapts to diverse needs, ensuring accessibility for all attendees.

The Role of Italian Design Ambassadors

Maria Porro, President of the Salone del Mobile.Milano, leads the charge in promoting Italian design excellence globally. From Rome to Osaka, she showcases the beauty and sustainability of Made in Italy products.

Fostering International Collaboration

Events like Italian Design Day strengthen ties between nations. Collaborations between Italy and countries like Japan and South Korea pave the way for shared innovation and creativity in design.

Empowering Young Talent

The SaloneSatellite exhibition provides a platform for emerging designers to showcase their work. Discussions on Big Data, neuroscience, and AI highlight the importance of nurturing young talent in the design industry.

Looking Ahead: Innovation in Design

Marva Griffin Wilshire, founder of SaloneSatellite, discusses the evolution of the Salone del Mobile.Milano and the role of innovation in shaping the future of design.
