October will bring a series of transport strikes to Italy as workers call for better safety conditions and wages. The transport strikes will affect air travel, trains, and local public transport services as well as work in the automotive sector.
October 11 Air Traffic Strikes
A strike by air traffic controllers in Palermo on October 11 will cause disruption to flights there from 1:00-5:00 pm. ENAV workers (who operate and maintain air traffic control systems) plan to strike at the same time in Bari, Brindisi, and Milano Linate.
October 12-13 Train Strikes
Railworkers plan to strike from 9:00 pm Saturday until 9:00 pm Sunday. The rail transport strike will impact regional and long-distance service by both Trenitalia and Italo. Because railworkers are striking over the weekend, train services during rush-hour periods is not a guarantee.
October 18 Local Transport Strikes
A transport strike of local public transport services will take place on October 18. The strike timetables will vary from city-to-city, so you should check to be sure of the affected hours.
In addition, autoworkers plan an 8-hour strike and demonstration in Rome on this day.
October 27 EasyJet Strike
EasyJet employees plan to strike between 1:00-5:00 pm on the 27th. This transport strike will affect only EasyJet flights. Consult the airline’s website if you have a flight planned for that day,
