Italy Supporting Children: From Venice’s Streets to Milan’s Marathon

Italy supporting children worldwide with two significant initiatives. In Venice, a unique event unfolds on the streets during the pre-opening of the Venice Art Biennale 2024. The event, titled “Children Everywhere: Bambini Ovunque,” features migrant children from Lisbon collaborating with local Venetian peers to transform Calle Nuova into a playground of innovation and expression.

From April 17 to 19, these young minds will showcase their creativity through newly designed street games.  Curated by Alexander Novikov and Elena Karpilova, the art initiative is an innovative project showcasing children’s resilience in challenging situations. It is a way to give children a means of expressing their frustrations, challenges, pain, joy, and strength.

Through interactive installations and performances, this project seeks to promote cross-cultural understanding and celebrate the power of youth in shaping our future. This unique collaboration promises to inspire visitors with its message of unity and creativity.

Milan Marathon, Mary Meals Italia 2024

Meanwhile, 400 kilometers away, the city of Milan is alive with the excitement of the Milan Marathon 2024, which took place on April 7th. This yearly event goes beyond testing the physical stamina of its participants by supporting a noble cause. Proceeds provide meals to children in some of the world’s most impoverished areas.

Through its charity program, Mary’s Meals Italia (an organization focused on providing meals to those in need), in partnership with TCC Global, aims to provide meals to 500 children at the Mdidi school in Malawi. The region currently grapples with severe drought and food shortages. Last year’s marathon saw participants like Kenyan athlete Thomas Ekiru making significant contributions. This year continued the positive impact.

Thanks to the generous support of sponsors and donors, the Milan Marathon has been able to create an impactful difference in the lives of those in need. By merging the spirit of competition with a strong commitment to aiding others, this event truly embodies the potential of community and compassion.

Both of these events highlight the importance of community and international cooperation.

Italy will host a number of events in April with the goal of bettering the lives of children. These artistic and athletic undertakings show how people from different backgrounds can work together for a common goal.
