Barrua is not only a wine but also an authentic expression of Sardegna’s (Sardinia’s) identity. Born in the Sulcis region, Barrua reflects a masterful union of tradition and innovation — a project created to enhance the land and its winemaking potential. Every sip tells stories of wind, sun, and earth, elements that shape the unique character of these grapes and highlight their essence.

Origin and Territory
Barrua is a wine that moves me each time I taste it. It was born in Sulcis from a remarkable project: Agricola Punica (AgriPunica), created by Cantina di Santadi together with Giacomo Tachis, one of the most important names in Italian enology (he also signed Sassicaia!).
Blend, Aging, and Character

Barrua is made from 85% Carignano, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 5% Merlot. It ages 18 months in barriques and another 12 months in the bottle. Time enriches its complexity, making it perfect even after many years. This red is bold yet elegant. On the nose, it offers ripe fruit, spices, and a hint of Mediterranean herbs. On the palate, it is soft and enveloping, with a long-lasting finish.
Pairings
Barrua is an ideal companion for porcetto, braised meats, game, and aged cheeses. It enhances Sardinian cuisine and elevates important occasions.
A Joy to Tell

Behind every glass of Barrua lies hard work in the vineyard and the cellar, but also the passion of those who believe that wine can be a cultural message, a bridge between past and future. This red stands out not only for its ability to stir emotions but also for creating deep connections with people and with life’s most special moments. Barrua is not just a wine — it is a sensory journey that invites you to discover the most authentic Sardegna and the beating heart of its enology.
My Experience
This is already the second year I have had the honor of representing Agricola Punica at the prestigious Porto Cervo Wine & Food Festival, a showcase for Sardinian winemaking. Bringing Barrua to this stage means telling, with pride, the most authentic Sardegna and the visionary dream of Giacomo Tachis.
